Sometime back I did a post on how to read Urdu SMS on an Android mobile phone. Actually at that time Android smartphones did not support Urdu fonts and reading an Urdu/Arabic SMS was a nightmare. One of my cousins had found a solution to this problem. By keeping two cellphones, an Android and a Nokia (running Symbian) he would forward the Urdu SMS to his Nokia phone and read them on it.

Here’s the worst situation one can come across. Your Q Mobile screen is broken, it isn’t working and you have to get it to the repair shop for a new touch-screen. But you need to reset the phone and wipe out all data. What to do? Even the front screen buttons aren’t working. The only thing working is the volume up/down keys and the power button. Fret not, just follow these steps.

I just don’t like the default Android app for setting reminders. Its not very user friendly and does not give many options. Life Reminders is a free app for setting reminders of any nature, personal, business or general. You can snooze the reminders from 5 minutes to even a week. In the free version you will see ads but that’s ok, doesn’t bother much. You can download Life Reminders for Android from Google Play.
Big Font is a very useful app for increasing font size on your Android device. It is designed to work with Android 2.3.3 and up. The app itself is very easy to use. Download it, install it, and run it. Slide your finger to the desired percentage of font size from 100 % to 115% or even 130 %. I think its very good for people with weak sight. It’s available for free on Google Play. You can download it from here.
I started using WordWeb about ten years back. It is a small nifty app for Windows which has a built in Thesaurus/Dictionary. Over the years I have considered it a must have application on my PC. Firefox for Android is free to download and use. Before this I have been using Opera Mini for Android and found it to be very user friendly. Firefox lets you have tabbed browsing on your Android device. It takes a whopping 17 MB so you better have enough space on your smartphone or tablet before installing it. But what I liked most about Firefox is the ability to sync my Laptop and smartphone. So now all my tabs, bookmarks, accounts info and even history in synchronized on both devices. This way I do not have a problem when I am using Firefox at home on the lappy or during move in my car.
