Hello. A new lot of CF98 has landed in Pakistan, specifically Peshawar. My sources tell me it’s around 2000 pistols. As a result of this the price has dropped from Rs 120k to 80k. But please note these are Peshawar prices. At other places price may vary slightly. Good news.
Hello. I feel bad writing in English about a book (Jangloos) written originally in Urdu, but please bear with me. I have been reading it for almost last two months. In fact I finished it today.
Jangloos is a set of three books each well over 600 pages. It is set in rural Punjab (Central as well a south), circa 1950’s. It describes the gory events of partition quite frequently. Two convicts Lali and Rahimdad being the main characters escape from jail and try to survive the unforgiving times. Their paths cross many times throughout the story, till the end. (No more spoilers :-))
The author has, through events described how the powerful (politicians, feudals, bureaucrats, military, businessmen, police and judiciary) in this country exploit the weak and poor. And in that the basic human instinct of survival is amply displayed. The characters are brought to life describing their actions and thoughts in detail, thus making the reader feel the story line, in depth. It certainly helps in understanding. The best thing is the use of plain Urdu language, with a smattering of Punjabi in between. It is an easy to read book with a very interesting story, but one which takes a lot of time to read (Over 2000 pages in all). The twists and turns are most unexpected and here is where the reader is left a little bewildered. I believe the author has a very good knowledge about the life in rural areas, about our judicial system, the police etc etc. It mentions the various land reforms and does also mention famous political personalities of its time, through events. It brings the reader in touch with the “real world” to which most of us are oblivious. And finally, the reader comes to realize that very little has changed in this beautiful country. No wonder that the drama serial based on this novel got banned.
And now I am trying to get over the hangover 🙂
So I had this FTTH solution at my home that promised 50 Mbps at all times. On a wired network that maybe possible but on wireless with a simple single band router operating in 2.4 GHz and bandwidth hungry apps, Fortnite, PubG, video streaming, smart TVs, Tablets and smartphones it was becoming difficult to balance things. With Covid, things became worse as online classes are being held at home. So a solution was to be found to this dilemma. I hard wired one smart TV, the PS4 was also hard wired, but then the other TV in another room could not get its share of airwaves. Turned out the 2.4 GHz router was insufficient. So I had another dual band router installed. This thing works in 2.4 as well as 5 GHz bands. It has MIMO antennae that promise optimal performance and auto bandwidth adjustment depending on speed requirement. It also comes with a USB port so You can attach a printer to it. So now the printer is also wireless and can be used from anywhere in the house. The dual band router was fixed on a wall at some height, all things backed by UPS power. Now I can get blazing fast Internet, live video streaming and the TV in the other room is showing much better video quality without jerking. So if you are getting Internet issues consider investing in a dual band router. Cheers
I remember my first CF98 cost me a mere Rs 26000 in 2010. It was in those days one of the most popular pistols in Pakistan. Adequately priced, dependable and aesthetically appealing. It quickly found fame amongst gun enthusiasts as a pistol that “does the job”. It came with a manual decocker safety, a rotating barrel, just all right trigger, metal slide, polymer frame, a decent double stack 15 round mag, miserable fixed sights, just so so finish, but was very popular because of its price and reliability. Not only that it was sleek enough to be carried. Then later after the import ban prices shot up and it would sell for 130k or more. A CF98 mini with a single stack 7 round magazine was later launched that became a hit. Come 2021 the new model has-been launched which reached Pakistan few weeks ago. There isn’t much difference between the two except for the rather thick Magazine baseplate and a slight curve in the grip. This will give a better grip and spruces up the looks. The gun is retailing at Rs 120k to 130k. Enjoy the photos 🙂
I think it will be a decent purchase if the price drops to 90k. Other than that this is an economical, reliable and pretty accurate weapon. Cheers.
Hello. So I got these few photos of a Beretta 92FS which some rumors say is a joint collaboration between Girsan Turkey and Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) Wah. Sure enough last time it was Sarsilmaz that exported lots of 9×19 mm pistols with POF logo, the Sarsilmaz B6 and ST9. These were hugely popular and there were rumors that POF wanted to make these here. But it didn’t work it for whatever reasons. Now it seems the same story is being repeated with Girsan. How is getting a Turkish pistol with POF logo going to help the local industry? I don’t know. To me this seems like a cheap marketing gimmick, unless POF actually sets up a plant here and makes these pistols. There’s no word as yet about what exactly is the product line up except for a few Beretta 92 FS photos. And if its only a 92 FS then I am a loss to understand POF’s fascination with Beretta 92FS. Do you guys remember the PK9 a local (pathetic) Beretta 92 FS copy that POF launched and was a miserable performer? Well then now you’re going to have another 92FS with POF logo. Both the POF as well as Wah Industries Limited websites are silent about the issue as of now.
Lebedev SP1 is the sports version of the original Lebedev (Russian) 9×19 mm, pistol. The Lebedev was originally called the PL14, later names PL15 and the compact version is called as PL15K. It is a full frame pistol, with ambidextrous safety, slide stop and mag release. The grips are checkered for better grip. The pistol has picatinny rails for attaching flashlight. The front and rear sights are similar to Glock sights and are replaceable with Glock sights. It comes with two 16 round mags with indicator windows. The slide has a red dot mount plate. The grip has cutouts for easier magazine removal. The looks are impressive, it is a sturdy weapon and if one goes by the track record of Russian weapons, I believe this is another winner in the making. Few pieces have landed here in Pakistan and more are still to arrive. Enjoy the photos.
Hello. Hope the going is good for you guys. Some Chinese and Turkish pistols have arrived. The prices are kind of crazy. I’m sharing few photos. These are Canik pistols. The shape has changed a lot. Also I have seen accessories like kydex holsters being added which is good. A changed shape is good for buyers as a lot of pistols are being copied in Peshawar and it is at times difficult to make out original from copy. Also included in some pistols is a threaded barrel. Detailed reviews will come later. Prices are like Rs. 180K for Canik.
Hello there. I was at a friend’s place few days ago and saw that his drawing room sofa had a deep gash. On asking he told me that he had gone hunting and on the way back forgot to empty his gun. One of his friends tinkered with the trigger and the gun went off in to the sofa arm. Thank God no one got hurt. The wood, cloth and foam padding prevented the bullet from being reflected and was absorbed. Now this man happens to be an old hunter and has a good collection of guns. The point I am trying to make is that he isn’t a novice. He would be the last person I would expect to make such a silly mistake. So without much ado I decided to make this post about gun safety rules.
Hello friends. There’s some good news for now. The first lot of weapons has arrived. From what I have heard the importers have stocked them and are selling them in small quantities to control the prices. They don’t want to flood the market with new pistols as a result of which the prices will fall at once.
Here are some of the weapons that have been imported commercially and are selling at very high prices.
So for now we have some Russian, Chinese, Turkish and Brazilian handguns selling at high price. These are peshawar prices so Lahore and Karachi prices might be a little higher. But I believe as more weapons land on our shores the situation will get better. I will try to update you guys. Cheers
The Advanced Combat Optical Gunsight (ACOG) from Trijicon is a must have sight for the AR15 rifle. There are various models of the ACOG, but generally the features are the same. It is a military specifications Mil Spec item which can withstand extreme temperatures, it is rugged for field use and easy to use.
