Ending 2021 and Sputnik Sweetheart (almost) in the same breath. Murakami has a unique style of narrating stories mostly in first person. Simple stories, simple language and then suddenly there are twists in the whole plot, suddenly “magical realism” appears and the story becomes a mystery, even more interesting. The reader is left wanting for more. A certain character will disappear, the protagonists life will take a turn, stabilize and finally the character will reappear. The beauty of it all is that “magical realism” becomes almost reality. A beautiful read, as always. 😀
